Tapeworms
Tapeworms are made up of tiny segments that look like grains of rice. Each of these segments may contain eggs. Tapeworms trigger severe itching and discomfort on dogs around the anus and the segments can be seen clearly in the feces. There are two types of tapeworms. One type is named Dipylidium Caninum and can only affects dogs. The other type of tapeworm can affect humans and cause an illness called the Hydatid Disease.

Dogs can pick up tapeworms by biting at or swallowing fleas. They can also catch the parasite by eating gophers which can carry the infectious form. Human infestation from tapeworms, although uncommon, can occur when we eat undercooked beef or pork infected from the organism. There is one type of tapeworm that can pose a treat to humans. This organism is the only variety of tapeworm that causes illness to both animals and people. The illness caused from this type of tapeworm is called Hydatid Disease.
Roundworms
If you are a dog owner or have had a dog in the past, then chances are you are very familiar with roundworms. Roundworms look very similar to earthworms. They are organisms that are most likely to be found in puppies and cause gastric and intestinal disorders in them. Roundworms can grow up to about a half foot in length. They are a very common parasite that usually invades your dog’s small intestines as well as his large intestines.
